Black Motion Warriors too hot to handle at Futsal Fever

MARIGOT—Black Motion Warriors emerged champions at the Futsal Fever competition held in the Omni Sports Hall on Saturday after dispatching New Time 10-2 in the final game.
The Warriors will now represent St. Martin on August 17-19 for the first “Super Futsal Cup Antilles Guyana.”

Black Motion Warriors beat R.I.S.C. Takers 6-2 in the semi-final and New Time defeated Flamingo 7-3 in the other semi-final. R.I.S.C Takers finished in third place 3-0 after the Flamingo team had to leave early.
Teams were divided into two pools, Pool A consisting of Black Motion Warriors, Young Stars and Flamingo. Pool B comprised After Match, New Time and Risc Takers.
The team from Guadeloupe unfortunately was not able to make it for the tournament.
In the earlier six games After Match and R.I.S.C. Takers were held to a 2-2 draw, Young Stars were no match for Black Motion Warriors, losing 1-11, and New Time beat After Match 3-2.
Flamingo defeated Young Stars 9-5, R.I.S.C. Takers were held to a draw again 4-4 against New Time, and Black Motion Warriors got the better of Flamingo 7-4.
The competition got under way with young girls playing before the adult games started at 10:00am.
“It was a beautiful tournament,” said organiser Stanley York. “In the Seniors Jonathan was Best Player, Ylaire Best Striker, and Julien Best Goal Keeper. The girls played just one game. The winning team was coached by Jean Luc and the Best Player was Melissa. Shanika won the Encouragement Prize.”
