Island Water World wins Racing Class

~ Kidz at Sea take Cruising Class~

SIMPSON BAY-- Team Island Water World dominated the first day of racing in the St. Maarten Yacht club’s annual Keelboat  Series. Island Water World won four of the five races sailed in Racing Class on Sunday.

Paul Miller was the race officer. “He managed to get some excellent courses laid for the light and fluky winds,” said Island Water World skipper Frits Bus.
Jan v d Eyndes  on Wanna B  sailed to consistent second place finishes and managed one win by  8 seconds on corrected time.
Solstice skippered by Ian Hope Ross, finished third. Ross normally sails his Melges 32 but it is still not ready after major damage caused by  Hurricane Irma.
Cruising / LSR class was much closer.  Garth Steyn with the  Kidz at Sea finished first just edging out Robbie Ferron. The other Kidz at Sea program boat with Rien Korteknie finished in third.
As the hurricane season is coming to an end,  the sailing season has begun.
Sailing continues this weekend with L’Course d ‘Alliance.  Racing starts Friday as the fleet sails to St. Barths.  Saturday they are off to Anguilla and on Sunday the fleet races  back to Simpson Bay.
The  Skipper’s briefing is Thursday at the Yacht Club starting at 6:00pm.
