Guadeloupe’s Eddy Boulatte wins Avenir Sportif 10K Run

MARIGOT--Eddy Boulatte, a runner from the AOG Club in Guadeloupe, clocked the fastest time of 34:37 in Sunday’s 10K Run organised by the Avenir Sportif Club de St. Martin (ASCSM).

Some 155 runners and walkers crossed the starting line for the 15th edition of this event. Normally it is a 15K race but was reduced to 10K this year because of not having access to the loop in Lowlands.
As usual, participants assembled for the start close to the border in Lowlands. Eddy Boulatte, a multi-medallist running in the Veteran Men category, led from the start maintaining a lead that he kept all the way to the finish line in Marigot. Hot on his heels was Omarco Robinson running for Intergeneration Runners who finished in 35:03 to win the Senior Men category.
The first Senior woman to finish was Sulinda Calme, also a licensed runner from the Copacavana Club in Guadeloupe, stopping the clock at 38:08.
Valerie Erceau was first in Veteran Women 1 in 46:46 while Veteran Women 2 was won by Sophie Berthelot in 57:42. Christophe Erceau was first in Veteran Men 2 in 37:32.
The walking category saw Jean-Marc Aubry from Dream of Trails finishing first in 1:12:49 and Svetlana Barthelemy from Club ASM Bar le Duc finished in 1:14:39 for the women.
Avenir Sportif Club thanked the runners who participated from Guadeloupe and St. Barths. The Club also thanked the island’s loyal runners and walkers who continue to make these events possible and especially despite the circumstances post-Hurricane Irma.
The race was made possible by the participation of Super U, Semsamar, Arcelor Mittal, Air Caraïbes, Liasions Dangereuses, Crédit Mutuel and GETELEC.
