MARIGOT--St. Martin bikini champion Elvina Matthew rocked the stage in Bogota, Colombia, at the weekend to bring home a third-place victory for St. Martin.
The Bodybuilding and Fitness Association of Saint-Martin was well represented by Matthew at the Miss and Mister America International Federation of Bodybuilding (IFBB) Cup. It was one of the first competitions held in Colombia for the Elite Pro ranking championship 2018 season. Some 20 countries and 300 plus athletes in various categories were present, mostly from Latin America countries.
“Elvina is one promising and hard-working athlete who is determined to make her country proud,” commented BFASM President and Coach François Carty. “From the very beginning we set out our training programme and we stuck to it. It was not easy under our present conditions but with discipline and hard work we did it and we can proudly say that Team Saint-Martin is well recognized and respected at these events.
“We have what it takes to make it to the top if only we can continue to get the support we need. Our journey has just begun and we have been taking note of some minor details to improve on what we have.
“Santo Domingo and the IFBB Diamond Cup Caribe are on our schedule for February 23-25, 2018, making this the second championship for 2018. Once again none of this would have been possible without the sponsorship of some locally-owned small business that step up and represent. A big thank you to them and all our supporters concluded. At BFASM we don't stop moving,” Carty concluded.
