COLE BAY--Left-handed batsman Akeem Charles walked away with the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award in the Prime Distributors Twenty20 tournament at the award ceremony held at the Motorworld Showroom in Cole Bay.
Charles collected the award after amassing 514 runs in 12 innings with a top score of 120 against the Gladiators. He also top-it-up with 10 wickets with his uncomplicated off spin.
The evening which was designed to honour the most outstanding batsman and bowler on each team also awarded the umpires and the three U15 players who were selected for the leeward Islands team.
Charles scored the highest runs for General Auto Repairs Spartans. The player with the most runs for NAGICO United Cricket Club was Lenny Boland with 238 runs in 12 innings with a top score of 99 against Masters. For Masters Stephen Evans registered the most runs with 399 runs in eight innings with a best score of 90 against the Gladiators. Adelvin Phillips from Nevis scored the most runs for WINAIR Conquerors with 226 in seven innings. His best score was 50 runs against the Gladiators. For the Gladiators, Keith Carty compiled the most runs with an aggregate of 214 runs in 10 innings. His best score was 46 against NAGICO. Nathan Edward was the best batsman for Future Champs. He scored 126 in five innings with his highest score being 46 against Spartans.
In the bowling department, Damion Williams was the best bowler for Spartans with 13 wickets. his best bowling figures was five for 25 off four overs against Gladiators. For NAGICO, the bowler with the most wicket was Merwin Vallet with 10 wickets ,with his best figures being five for 13 in four overs against Future Champs. Don Farrell was the best bowler for Masters with 11 wickets. His best figures was four for 26 against the Gladiators. The bowler with the most wickets for Gladiators was Quincy Hyman. He collected 14 wickets. His best figures was three for 25 off four overs against Conquerors. Future Champs best bowler was Rudesh Netram. He grabbed 11 wickets with his best bowling figures being two for three in two overs against NAGICO.
Each man of the match was awarded a NAF. 90,00 vouchers.
