Hot, bothered and powerless

Dear Editor,

I just read GEBE’s press release about outages lasting till the end of next week, and more to come in the following month to catch up with deferred maintenance.

They have the gall to say they understand our frustration. Well let me tell them on behalf of the entire population including their own workers that they really do not understand the frustration we have. Management must be from Mars to live in that illusion of understanding.

Suggestion 1: stop celebrating your birthday and start providing power, we will talk about your birthday later, provided the power stays on.

Suggestion 2: warn the people before you start messing around, not after we got seriously frustrated already.

Suggestion 3: do not defer maintenance, keep your engines up to date, use the money from the birthday party, we’d rather have power than birthday cake.

Suggestion 4: promised often in the past, but never executed decently, give us a load-shedding schedule and follow that schedule, so we can organise our day, we do not appreciate surprises.

Hot, bothered and powerless.
