…THE HEAVY RAINFALL ADVISORY FOR ST. MAARTEN HAS BEEN CANCELLED…
WEATHER:
This afternoon through Wednesday midday: Partly cloudy to cloudy and breezy with isolated showers possible.
Forecast High: 30°C / 86°F
Forecast Low: 25°C / 77°F
Sunset Today: 6:47 P.M.
Sunrise Tomorrow: 5:51 A.M.
SURFACE WINDS:
This afternoon through Wednesday midday: East-southeast to east-northeast with a gentle to fresh breeze of 10 to 18 miles per hour and possible higher gusts.
SYNOPSIS:
Lingering moisture associated with a recent tropical wave may trigger a few brief local showers today. However, a relatively drier atmosphere will prevail and limit significant precipitation overall. Although conditions are improving, caution is still advised due to saturated soils from recent rainfall, where rock fall and/or landslides remain possible in vulnerable areas.
Moderate marine conditions will prevail for the next few days, with wave heights up to 6 feet. Small craft operators and sea bathers should exercise caution.
STATE OF THE SEA: Moderate
WAVES/SWELLS: 5 to 6 feet
SPECIAL FEATURE: A tropical wave located in the eastern Atlantic Ocean, several hundred miles east-southeast of the Eastern Caribbean, continues to produce a broad area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms. No significant development of this system is expected for the next couple of days while it moves westward at about 15mph. Thereafter, upper-level winds are forecast to gradually become more conducive, and a tropical depression could form over the weekend. It currently has a low (0 percent) to medium (50 percent) chance through the next 2 to 5 days of formation.
The Meteorological Department of St. Maarten will continue to monitor this feature.
OUTLOOK through Friday midday: Partly cloudy to cloudy and breezy with brief showers.
FORECASTER: Connor
