DUTCH QUARTER--A young woman was found murdered and left in the trunk of her own car, a black Hyundai Accent, which had been abandoned on a piece of land known as the "Cockpit," in the Nazareth area of Dutch Quarter. A Police report confirmed the young woman's murder.
Liscania Maduro, also known as Beba, would have been 24 years old next week. She lived with her mother and had left for work on Monday, September 1, but failed to return home in the afternoon. She did not inform her mother of her whereabouts, which was out of character.
A close friend tracked her phone, which was traced back to the Cockpit. It was there that the victim's body was found.
Eyewitnesses at the scene stated that the Police had asked the victim's mother and boyfriend to identify the victim, and said that the young woman had visible stab wounds.
The victim, who worked both at the Sonesta Great Bay Resort, as well as at entertainment company Wheretheflex.com, was described by a colleague as "hard working, very loyal and reliable and very ambitious. She was a trusted employee who was given a lot of responsibility." A colleague from Wheretheflex.com told how the young woman had been in charge of a booth for wheretheflex.com during last year's carnival. "This was a responsible position, as she was in charge of a large amount of money. She was trusted 100 per cent, and will be sorely missed by her colleagues as well as her family."
Another friend said: "Lis was a straight talker. She used to tell it as it was. But she was a genuine and loyal person, a good friend."
Colleagues from Wheretheflex.com, who described themselves as a close-knit group of friends, more like a family, attended the crime scene as well as the house of the victim's mother, to pay their respects and grieve the loss of their colleague and friend. "We used to have fun and hang out as a group a lot. As a group, we attended the location to be with Liscania and to be together mourning her," the colleague said.
The victim was named by Police by her initials L.M.M.O. Their report stated that she had been reported missing by her mother R.M.O., at Philipsburg Police Station at 4:30am. Her mother stated that she had been searching throughout the night for her daughter without any success.
"Shortly after making the report, a close friend of her daughter tracked the approximate location of her cellular telephone via the GPS tracking-system, which was in the Nazareth area. Immediately the Police were informed of that information and a patrol was sent to investigate," the Police report stated. Officers "found the lifeless body of a female in the trunk of the car. Noting the condition the body was found in the investigating officers knew that foul play was involved. The Police Central Dispatch was immediately informed of the situation and the area was closed off to preserve the crime scene.
"Detectives and Forensic Department were sent to the scene to do an in depth investigation. Dr. Mercuur pronounced the death of the victim and the body has been confiscated for further investigation. The investigation is in its preliminary stages and a lot has to be done to determine what happened, why and who the one is or ones are that are responsible for this act."
In the process of the investigation, officers completed a search of the scene and located three stolen vehicles hidden underneath bushes at the location. The vehicles were partly stripped. They were a brown Suzuki Vitara, a dark grey Hyundai I10 and a silver coloured Hyundai I20. All three vehicles were confiscated for further investigation.
