Workers for Curaçao refinery

A total of 1,627 persons in Curaçao last Saturday registered for a possible job in the modernisation of the local Isla refinery once Guangdon Zhenrong Energy (GZE) takes it over. People could do so from 8:00am to 8:00pm at five different locations. It’s also possible to register online via entrenapatrabou.com and the Ministry of Social Development, Labour and Wellbeing SOAW that is in charge of the process has planned two more registration days on May 6 and 7.

The state-owned Chinese company will upgrade Isla and the Curaçao Refinery Utilities (CRU) power plant there as well as expand the related oil transhipment terminal at Bullenbaai when the current lease contract with “Petróleos de Venezuela” PDVSA runs out in 2019. SOAW is to recruit 4,500 potential workers who will undergo extensive training.
