SUCKER GARDEN--Shots rang out on Candelabra Cactus Drive in Sucker Garden when two masked gunmen stormed into a car wash and opened fired just after 10:00pm Tuesday. The result is two men fighting for their lives in St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) while the gunmen are at large.

One of the victims was shot several times and is in critical condition at the hospital, said police spokesman Inspector Ricardo Henson at the scene.

The second shooting victim had a bullet pierce his back. He too is under medical care.

Investigators are still trying to piece together what exactly occurred and the possible motive behind the shooting.

Police were alerted about the shooting and rushed to the scene. There, they learned of the two gunmen who had entered the car wash and opened fire on the two men at the location.

Police Chief Carl John and Prosecutor Martin van Nes were also at the scene.page1b254
