ANGUILLA--Chief Medical Officer Dr. Aisha Andrewin has reported that two adult female visitors from the United States, who arrived in Anguilla on Saturday, November 28, have tested positive for COVID-19.
The women, who are unrelated, both submitted negative COVID-19 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test results prior to arrival in Anguilla and were subsequently tested upon arrival as per the established protocol. Their tests upon arrival came back positive and they remain asymptomatic in isolation at approved locations.
The Ministry of Health is assuring the general public that all protocols for testing, quarantine/isolation and contact tracing are being followed to minimise the risk of transmission. The ministry notes that as the number of COVID-19 cases continues to rise internationally, the risk continues for Anguilla to import cases. Therefore, the ministry continues to stress the importance of Anguilla’s stringent entry-testing and quarantine protocols. All persons must submit a negative COVID-19 test conducted three to five days before arrival, be tested on entry, quarantine for 10 or 14 days, and have a negative test to exit quarantine.
The Ministry of Health is reminding the public to practise the hygienic measures recommened to protect against COVID-19.
