Tell me a story

Beyond Kultura Events (BKE) Foundation handed out certificates to 12 participants in its Storytelling and Reading-Expressions Programme at Axum Art Café in Philipsburg on Sunday. Member of Parliament and former Minister of Education, Culture, Youth Affairs and Sport Silveria Jacobs handed the certificates to the “graduating” storytellers.

BKE has reached approximately 4,000 children in the past three months through this programme, the organisation stated. The storytellers were evaluated and coached during assignments. “We are most happy to present to St. Maarten our first certificated storytellers, who can serve our community with the best self-produced stories. They can tell about events, they can also serve the library and schools during, for example, Children’s Book Week or a storytelling week,” BKE chairwoman Loekie Morales stated.
