SVOBE hosts educational symposium on August 10

PHILIPSBURG--The School Board for Secondary Education SVOBE will be hosting an Educational Symposium at the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort and Casino on Thursday, August 10, from 8:00am to 3:30pm.

The symposium will draw the curtains on the anniversary celebration of the two SVOBE schools: Milton Peters College (MPC), which is celebrating 40 years and Sundial School which marked 50 years. The conference is themed “Education for the 21st century and beyond,” and the focus will be on rethinking education for future development in St Maarten.

United States (US) education official Alan November and University of St. Martin (USM) President Francio Guadeloupe will serve as the keynote speakers.

SVOBE urges all secondary education teachers to participate in the symposium. “We also extend an invitation to organisations and businesses to be part of this symposium,” SVOBE said.

The registration fee is NAf. 108 or US $60 per person – this covers snacks, lunch, drinks and the book by November entitled “Who owns the learning?” Persons can register at: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
