Suspect in scooter theft, break-in apprehended

PHILIPSBURG--The St. Maarten Police Force KPSM arrested a man M.I.H. on Monday morning for the theft of a scooter that took place in the Pelican Key area on November 9. He is the second suspect arrested as a part of this ongoing investigation. He is also suspected of having broken into a restaurant.

An arrest warrant for H. had been issued recently for his alleged involvement in the scooter theft, said police in a press release. The first suspect, J.J.J., was arrested in Simpson Bay on November 9, but the second suspect managed to evade police that night.

Police were able to apprehend H. after information surfaced about his whereabouts shortly after he allegedly had broken into a restaurant in the Simpson Bay area on the morning of November 17. At the time of H.’s arrest, he was also in possession of the goods stolen from the restaurant.

He was taken to the police station and held for further questioning.
