Suspect in rape case flown out to Bonaire

ST. EUSTATIUS--The man with the initials O.A.R., who was arrested Monday morning as a suspect in a rape case, was flown out to Bonaire on Wednesday morning.

The Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that two officers of the Royal Dutch Marechaussee accompanied the suspect on board an aircraft that took off from F.D. Roosevelt Airport around 9:20. The investigation in the case is ongoing.

In another unrelated incident, a student was arrested under suspicion of having ill-treated another student. The arrest was ordered by the Prosecutor.

The assault took place on Tuesday. The suspect was taken into custody, but released later pending more investigations.

The victim received first aid at Queen Beatrix Medical Centre and returned home after treatment. Several police officers were at the Medical Centre to assist the victim. No information was provided about the victim’s and suspect’s ages, or about the nature of the assault and the injuries.
