ST. EUSTATIUS--It was an emotional scene at F.D. Roosevelt Airport on Tuesday when the family and friends of Millenia Bennett (17), who was going to the USA to further her studies, turned out to say farewell.

Persons at the airport included her father St. Eustatius Fire Chief Andre Bennet, her mother St. Eustatius Disaster coordinator Edris Bennet-Merkman, her two sisters Ingra and Riana, and her extended family and friends. Bennet plans to study Arts and Science at Indian Hills Community College in Iowa, but will be majoring in Business.

“I will be studying for a period of two years and after I obtain my Associate's degree I can transfer to any school within the United States to further my studies for my Bachelor's degree in Business,” Bennet said.

Asked whether she plans to return to the island after she finishes her studies, she said, “I have that in mind, but I will see what the future holds for me.”

Bennet holds the title of First Baby of Millennium (2000) in Statia.
