A SMALL CRAFT WARNING IS IN EFFECT FROM 6AM TODAY UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
Showers and thunderstorms are associated with a well-organized tropical wave located about 170 miles east of Barbados. It is producing winds near tropical storm force winds. This system continues to show signs of development and a tropical depression or tropical storm is likely to form later today, as it moves westward to west northwestward at 15 to 20 mph.
Regardless of development, hazardous seas are expected during the next 48 hours with waves peaking near 10 to 14 feet in easterly swells. Consequently, a small craft warning is in effect from this morning. Small craft operators and property owners and persons with interests along the coast should exercise caution and are advised to take steps to protect life and property.
