SYNOPSIS:
Moisture and instability trailing Hurricane Dorian will cause a few isolated showers across the local area during this forecast period. Meanwhile, the Atlantic high pressure system will maintain mostly moderate winds.
Seas are expected to peak near 5 feet through the next few days.
STATE OF THE SEA: Moderate WAVES/SWELLS: up to 5 feet
SPECIAL FEATURE: At 11:00 am today, the center of Hurricane Dorian was located about 360 miles northwest of St. Maarten and moving toward the northwest near 13 mph (20 km/h). On the forecast track, the center of Dorian will continue to move further from St. Maarten.
Maximum sustained winds are near 85 mph (140 km/h) with higher gusts. Dorian is forecast to strengthen and become a major hurricane on Friday.
The Meteorological Department of St. Maarten will continue to monitor this system.
