PSVE to introduce CXC’s CCSLC pilot programme EBENEZER--The Foundation

for Academic and Vocational Education (FAVE) said Friday that the Preparatory Secondary Vocational Education (PSVE) section of St. Maarten Academy will begin offering Caribbean Examinations Council CXC as of January 8.

The school met with Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports (ECYS) Silveria Jacobs and Senior Policy Officer at the Department of Education Ruth Verbeek on Wednesday, to share its vision for the new educational programme.
The introduction of CXC will be for all students in the present Form 1 and 19 students of Form 2, and will begin as a pilot programme.
For the pilot group, students will complete the compulsory Mathematics and English of CXC’s Caribbean Certificate of Secondary Level Competence (CCSLC). At their graduation, these students will receive a PSVE diploma and a CCSLC certificate. In this regard, the school will hold a special and important parent’s meeting for all parents of Form 1 and Form 2 on Thursday, January, 11 at 7:00pm at the campus.
“The school is very pleased with this development since students will receive qualification recognisable in the broader commonwealth region,” PSVE Principal Lavern Nelson said.
CCSLC is a secondary-level qualification developed by CXC and offered in the Caribbean region since 2007.
