Police investigating 2 shooting incidents

PHILIPSBURG--Detectives are investigating two shooting incidents that occurred three hours apart on Monday, April 29, starting at 9:30am in the vicinity of ACE Megacenter in Cole Bay.

  According to reports, the suspect shot the first victim shot multiple times and fled the scene in an unknown vehicle after committing the act. The victim, though injured, managed to jump into his own vehicle and drive to St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) for further treatment.

  “The area was cordoned off by the police patrol for Detectives and Forensic Department to conduct their investigation. The reason why this incident took place is still unclear. The identity of the victim has not yet been released. The victim remains admitted for further medical treatment,” the police said on Wednesday.

  The second shooting took place in Dutch Quarter at 12:15pm. According to the victim, he was shot in his lower right arm while walking on the street. He stated that he had been shot with an airgun. The projectile penetrated his skin, causing severe pain. The victim said he did not know the identity of the person who shot him.

  This case is also under investigation by Police Detectives.
