Pickup truck crashes onto Saba home’s roof

A Dodge Dakota pickup truck landed on the roof of a Troy Hill home in Saba on Thursday evening.

SABA--A white pickup truck crashed onto the roof of a home on Troy Hill in Saba around 8:40pm Thursday, November 28, the Caribbean Netherlands Police Force KPCN reported Friday.

While driving downhill on Troy Hill Road above The Bottom the driver noticed that the brakes of his Dodge Dakota pickup truck did not work. To prevent it from rolling off the hill in the upcoming sharp turn, the driver veered his vehicle to the other side of the road and landed on the roof of a home.

The driver sustained a broken arm and was taken to A.M. Edwards Medical Center by ambulance. The roof of the house suffered “minimal” damage, the police said.

Members of the Fire Department Caribbean Netherlands from Saba and St. Eustatius joined forces in removing the vehicle from the roof.
