Passenger opens emergency door

AIRPORT--A passenger had to be removed from a Winair flight after he “accidentally” opened the aircraft’s emergency door on Sunday, May 5.

The Alpha Team at Princess Juliana International Airport (PJIA) was called to intervene in a matter involving a male passenger on board an aircraft operated by Winair around 6:00pm Sunday. Police spokesperson Chief Inspector Ricardo Henson said the suspect accidentally opened the emergency exit door while changing seats.

The man was removed from the aircraft and taken to the office where he was spoken to regarding this situation. No official complaint was filed against him and he was not arrested, Henson said in a police press release.
