MARIGOT--The Collectivité notes more than 100 boats are still in a wrecked and/or abandoned state since the passage of Hurricane Irma.
Formal notices were sent to the owners where the latter could be identified and, apart from occasional removal and dismantling, many shipwrecks or abandoned vessels still remain to date, posing a potential danger to safety of persons and property, protection of the surrounding natural environment and exercise of maritime, coastal or port activities.
All owners of these vessels are required to take the necessary measures to remove these vessels from occupation of public property and to prevent associated risks, within a period of one month from the date of signature of the attached publications.
These publications will be widely distributed, displayed at the Port, on the Marinas and on each of the wrecks or abandoned vessels concerned, in the presence of a bailiff and with the assistance of the Nautical Brigade of St. Martin and St. Barths Gendarmerie and Jonathan Boat Services (JBS).
