ST. EUSTATIUS--The reopening of the renovated Orange Bay Road will be delayed, because of the inclement weather that hit St. Eustatius on Monday.
The island was hit with strong winds and heavy rain throughout the day. This hindered the workers of the Department of Spatial Planning and Management DROB and the Road Fund from being able to pour concrete on the road.
The road workers nevertheless pressed on and worked up until 7:00 pm, and were able to get the concrete poured and the Bay Road works are now complete.
The renovated road will, however, not be accessible until Thursday when only small vehicles will be allowed access. Large vehicles and heavy equipment will not be allowed to drive on the first phase of the street until it is deemed cured enough to prevent the road surface from being damaged.
