PHILIPSBURG--The public can now vote for their favourite individual or organisation in the various categories of the 12th Annual Crystal Pineapple Awards.

Voting officially opens at 9:00am, today Friday, November 1. “This puts you in the perfect position to vote for those individuals and organisations you think should be recognised for their outstanding performance in the hospitality, tourism and trade industry, may it be an excellent employee, an outstanding manager, your favourite restaurant or media personality, for example,” the St. Maarten Hospitality and Trade Association (SHTA) said in a press release on Thursday.

The Crystal Pineapple Awards Gala is the only event on the island that recognises hospitality and trade personnel, organisations and associations for their outstanding performance during the year. During this year’s gala awards, individuals who are employed in the hospitality and trade industry will receive awards in the categories of Hospitality and Trade, the Community Service Award, Media Personality of the Year and the Environmental Award.

The award ceremony will be held at the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort and Casino, on Saturday, November 23. The gala evening will include “a sumptuous dinner”, live entertainment, a silent auction and much more.

Voting can be done via

www.shta.com/vote-here. The polls will close on Thursday, November 21, at 3:00pm. “Remember that your vote can make someone feel like a star that evening.”

The final selection of winners will be based on the outcome of popular votes and the Crystal Pineapple Awards committee review. Tickets for the Award Gala are now on sale and can be purchased at the SHTA office between 8:00am and 5:00pm. SHTA urges everyone to reserve their gala tickets right away, as there is limited seating.
