PHILIPSBURG--An estimated ninety senior citizens from the Home Away from Home Taking Care of the Elderly Foundation gave thanks for all the blessings in their lives, at a special Thanksgiving luncheon held at the John Larmonie Centre on Thursday.
The seniors enjoyed the time mingling amongst each other, catching up on old times and indulging in traditional Thanksgiving treats, beverages and cake.
Some seniors even got up and enjoyed some time dancing to some of their favourite tunes as a deejay was on hand to entertain them.
President of the Foundation Patricia Flanders said this is the eighth year that the Foundation has been bringing seniors together for the Thanksgiving luncheon.
During the ceremony, Flanders presented two plaques as a gesture of appreciation to Governor Eugene Holiday, who she said has always attended the events hosted by the Foundation that he is invited to and to the Lions Club, for always supporting the Foundation and its seniors. Flanders said the Foundation has many things to be thankful for and the event had been a success and was enjoyed by attendees. She thanked everyone who have supported the seniors in the past and who continue to support them.
A number of dignitaries joined the seniors for the event including Holiday, Minister of General Affairs Prime Minister William Marlin and Minister of Health, Labour and Social Affairs Emil Lee, amongst others.
