Next stop European Court

The “new majority” in Curaçao’s Parliament wants the European Court to give a correct interpretation on articles 29 and 53 of the country’s Constitution, they announced during a press conference. The move comes after the Kingdom Council of Ministers refused to entertain revoking the national decree with which the outgoing Koeiman Cabinet had dissolved Parliament and called early elections on April 28. The MFK, KdNT, PS and MP fractions plus independent parliamentarians Braam (ex-PAR) and Dannawi (ex-MAN), good for 12 of the 21 seats in the legislature, say they should have been allowed to form a new Government for the remainder of the four-year legislative term that started after the regular elections last October.
