New life for cans

Artist Tes Verheij of Art Craft Cafe is ready to upcycle cans that would otherwise end up on the ever-growing “Mount Dump” into again-useful items such as light fixtures, candleholders and much more. Her recycling project needs as much help as possible from the community.

A collection bin for clean cans is available in her art gallery on Front Street a few doors down from Diamond Casino to drop off cans. The gallery will be closed from July 23 until August 6. Cans can be dropped off before and after those dates. In photo: Verheij and her son Flynn deposit the first set of cans in the collection bin.
