PORT--MSC Cruises returns to St. Maarten in March, the start of 29 scheduled calls by MSC ships for this year, Port St. Maarten announced on Wednesday. The first call will be by MSC Opera on March 28. The call will include newest ship in the fleet MSC Seaside on April 4.
Some 115,000 cruise passengers will visit the country on the scheduled cruise calls for this year. The cruise line made 26 port calls in 2016 bringing 91,734 passengers. In 2015, the cruise line made 24 port calls with 71,167 passengers.
Port management said it looks forward to MSC Cruises’ return to the destination and will work with the cruise line to strategically develop the relationship further. The return of the cruise line comes after several meetings between it and the Port.
MSC Cruises primarily attracts Europeans, but also markets extensively to mainstream North American cruise travellers. The Swiss-based world’s largest privately-owned cruise line employs 15,000 staff members around the world and is present in 45 countries.
