MPs continue talks on structure of the detention facilities today

PHILIPSBURG--Members of Parliament (MPs) will continue their discussions on the management structure of detention facilities in St. Maarten during an urgent public plenary session today, Wednesday at 3:00pm.

The meeting began on May 29, was adjourned on the same day and then postponed on July 31. Justice Minister Cornelius de Weever will be present for the meeting.

The agenda points include the management structure of the detention facilities in St. Maarten and the status and significance of the Progress Committee report recommendations.

The meeting was requested by United Democrats (UD) Members of Parliament (MPs) Tamara Leonard, Sidhart “Cookie” Bijlani and Jules James.

The public can follow the deliberations in person at the House of Parliament located across from the Courthouse in Philipsburg.

The session will be carried live on St. Maarten Cable TV Channel 115, 107.9FM, 98.1FM,
