  1. EUSTATIUS--A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Public Entity of St. Eustatius, Golden Rock Pharmacy and Statia Waste Solutions on Friday for the disposal of Statia’s medical waste.

The MoU describes how the three parties will collaborate to ensure the safe disposal of expired and unused medication and other small medical waste.

In the MoU, each party is assigned a task to promote the effort to dispose of expired and unused medication and other medical waste effectively and efficiently. Diabetic patients using insulin will be provided with a sharp container for the disposal of syringe needles, test strips and lancets.

“The cooperation of the public is required if the goal to safely dispose of medical waste is to be achieved. The Public Health Department will launch a public awareness campaign on the procedures to follow for the safe disposal of medical waste,” Director of Social Affairs Carol Jack-Roosberg said in a press release.
