Mossel approved as new ombudsman

 

PHILIPSBURG--Current substitute Ombudsman Gwendolien Mossel has been approved by Parliament to become the country’s second ombudsman as of January 1, 2019. Her appointment was unanimously accepted by secret ballot in a plenary sitting of the legislature on Wednesday.

  Mossel is appointed for the constitutionally mandated seven-year term.

  Parliament also approved the honourable discharge of current Ombudsman Nilda Arduin as of December 31.
