More armed robberies on French side over weekend

MARIGOT--Gendarmes were kept busy over the weekend with more armed thefts. On Friday night around 8:30, Cadisco Gas Station in Orient Bay was robbed at gunpoint, and two hours later a victim reported his scooter was stolen at gunpoint in Marigot.

Capitaine Silvain Jouault stated a vehicle had been identified as being used in one of the robberies and five individuals were found with it, but scattered when Gendarmes arrived. However, one of the five was caught and found to be in possession of a weapon.

On Saturday night, a victim reported he had cell phones stolen at gunpoint by two individuals near the basketball ground in La Savane.

Jouault said the Gendarmerie is investigating whether these latest robberies have any connection with the string of armed robberies committed a week ago. So, far there have been no arrests.
