MARIGOT--A total of nine young ladies, four from St. Martin, one from St. Barths and four from Guadeloupe, will compete in a pageant on August 29, in Grand Case, to choose a representative at the Miss France pageant in December.
Organisers noted "Miss St. Martin for Miss France" has now become "Miss Guadeloupe-îles du Nord pour Miss France" due to a reorganisation of the regions of France. It effectively means the elected Miss will be representing Guadeloupe, St. Martin and St. Barths.
St. Martin, however, has been given the honour of hosting the 2015 pageant in the Grand Case Cultural Centre, where four candidates from Guadeloupe will also be vying for the title with the St. Martin and St. Barths candidates. The hosting country will change each year.
The five candidates are No.1 Morène Froston (18) from St. Barths; No. 2 Kasey Laurence (18) from St. Martin; No. 3 Pamela Miller (19) from St. Martin; No. 4 Joanna Gassant (18) from St. Martin; and No. 5 Dina L'Aurore (19) from St. Martin.
L'Aurore was a Jury Prize winner at the Miss St. Martin 2014 pageant. The Guadeloupe candidates were not mentioned by name.
The pageant on August 29, starts at 8:00pm. Tickets are 25 euros or US $25 in advance or 30 euros/ $30 at the door. Tickets can be purchased at the Grand Case Cultural Centre or from the candidates themselves.
The public can vote for their choice by SMS typing QUEEN plus the number of the candidate and send to 97000, for example "Queen 1."
The public vote counts for 50 per cent of the jury vote to select five finalists. The jury determines the final order and winner.
