PHILIPSBURG--Three draft national ordinances were slated to be up for approval by Parliament on Tuesday afternoon. However, the session was cancelled after there were insufficient Members of Parliament present for the plenary session to commence. Eight or more members are needed for a session to open.
Up for approval were the draft ordinance amending the National ordinance on identity cards in connection with the introduction of an identity card for privileged citizens; the draft ordinance amending the Sanctions National ordinance to implement recommendation 6 of the Financial Action Task Force to implement without delay the restrictive measures and some technical legal adjustments; and the draft National ordinance amending the National ordinance on material civil service law to protect the status of public servants.
A new session of Parliament will be called by Parliament Chairwoman Sarah Wescot-Williams to handle these draft laws.
The Central Committee of Parliament met earlier in the afternoon and approved its decision lists from the 2015-2016 Parliamentary Year.
