K1 donation

K1 Britannia Foundation received a donation from the Office of the Dutch Representation in St. Maarten, headed by Chris Johnson. The donation will be used to continue the foundation’s projects. Foundation co-founder Priya Thirumur said projects focused on rehabilitating troubled youth and children who are abuse survivors have grown since Hurricane Irma, but funding is scarce.

Two main projects are its “UK apprenticeship programme” that aims to give a second chance to young offenders by sending them abroad for an apprenticeship programme, and funding for a new office to carry out in-house workshops, trainings and tutoring, and for new equipment. Johnson said K1 Britannia Foundation’s projects “touch many within the community of St. Maarten on a daily basis. The Representation of the Netherlands on St. Maarten is happy to support their efforts.”
