Honourable officer

Préfète Déléguée for St. Martin and St. Barths Anne Laubies has been made an Officer of the Legion of Honour, “Le Journal de St. Barths” reported.

She was among 336 distinguished personalities to feature in a New Year’s honours list. She was elevated to grade of officer for her work during and after the devastating hurricanes of September. The nomination came from the Ministry of Overseas Territories. It should be noted she remained in the Préfecture with her staff throughout the duration of Hurricane Irma as the building collapsed around them and continued to perform her duties in the aftermath of the storms. Préfète Laubies is already an officer of the National Order of Merit and a Chevalier des Palmes Académiques. She is pictured in the photo with former President of the Collectivité the late Aline Hanson.
