Members of the South Indian community in St. Maarten celebrated the “Pongal” festival on Sunday. Southern states in India celebrate this harvest festival for four days.
The festival marks the end of the harvest season and the start of the New Year. For the festival, friends and families get together to give thanks for a prosperous harvest and a season of good fortune. Photos show scenes at the celebration.
