ST. EUSTATIUS--St. Eustatius Senior Citizen Cultural Foundation held a gala dinner for the island’s elderly at Mike van Putten Youth Centre/Lions’ Den on Monday, December 28.

Foundation director “Lady of Culture” Marcella Marsdin and her helpers organised the gala dinner. Despite the heavy rainfall, many seniors ventured out to take part in the last event organised by the foundation for this year.

Delicious food and drinks were served and music was provided by Marlon “DJ Runnthings” Hook. Deputy Government Commissioner Alida Francis and Island Council member Adelka Spanner were also present.

Marsdin said the COVID-19 pandemic had made 2020 a very difficult year for everyone, “But thanks be to God for His love and mercy during 2020,” she said.

She thanked volunteers Michele van Putten, Patricia Blijden, Monet Warren, Adelka Spanner, Verna Irish and Lleandra Belleau for “always” being there for her. “May God bless us as we work towards making our senior citizens happy,” she said.
