Free HIV testing at Lions Fair today

PHILIPSBURG--St. Maarten AIDS Foundation will offer free HIV tests at St. Maarten Lions Club’s ninth annual Lion Rudy Hoeve Health and Wellness Fair at the Festival Village, scheduled for 9:00am to 4:00pm today.

AIDS Foundation is proud of the fact that it has worked along with the Lions Club over the years to provide health support for the people of St. Maarten. It also has been a major contributor to the Fair since the beginning and will once again be carrying out the usual HIV/AIDS testing. The HIV tests involve only a small finger-prick, with results available within 15 minutes. No individual identification is needed, as only the birth year and month are recorded.

The Foundation urges everyone to take advantage of this health fair to get to know their HIV status, as well as to check for diabetes, blood pressure, etc., which should be part of a routine health check. Some 25 stakeholders involved in healthcare, prevention and wellness in St. Maarten have signed up with the Lions Club to provide the public with health tests, examinations, presentations, lectures and general healthcare and wellness information.
