Festival Village vendors now open for business

PHILIPSBURG--Stichting Overheidsgebouwen (SOG) started its vendors programme last week and the public is invited to come out and enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner on a daily basis at the booths in St. Maarten Festival Village.

Ten vendors are operational and sell different Caribbean food with their speciality drinks. The programme is aimed to stimulate entrepreneurship and more usage of Festival Village, while offering vendors the opportunity to sell their products such as drinks, foods, arts and crafts, etc.

A number of promoters have expressed interest in organising their events in the village throughout the summer and the rest of the year. Among the most anticipated events are the upcoming Cooler Fete on June 31, Oualichi Festival, Sxm Best Weekend, Lighted Parade after-party and the Presidente Concert.

SOG, which is charged with the management of Festival Village, encourages persons within the community to become involved in the programme by registering to become a potential vendor or by participating in its entertainment programme.

There will be no entrance fee to enter Festival Village during the programmes hosted by SOG, but in the event there should be a concert or any other type of event in the Village organised and hosted by a private entity or group, or an event organised by a private group or entity and hosted by the private entity or group in collaboration with SOG, an entrance fee will be charged to persons wanting to attend.

The entire population is urged to become involved by visiting and supporting the vendors. The programme allows the public to eat in the largest kitchen in the Caribbean.

Additional information can be obtained at St. Maarten Festival Village between 9:00am and 5:00pm, or by calling 721-543-0506/07.
