FEDOM seeks to align tax exemption rates

FEDOM delegation with Vice-President Yawo Nyuiadzi.

MARIGOT--Vice-President of the Collectivité in charge of economic development Yawo Nyuiadzi received a delegation from the Fédération des Entreprises d’Outre-Mer (FEDOM), on June 3. The delegation was composed of its President (former Député of the first district of the Loire) Jean-Pierre Philibert and Déléguée Generale Samia Badat-Karam.

While FEDOM works in the service of its members (mainly professional associations), it traditionally maintains close links with the overseas departments and ensures that it acts as a constructive intermediary for various national or regional administrations when requested.

During this meeting, Nyuiadzi was presented with the major issues on which FEDOM is working; for example, tax issues such as the search for an alignment of tax exemption rates in St. Martin with those in French Guiana and Mayotte, which are more advantageous for investors.

Nyuiadzi agreed with President Philibert to have a closer and more constructive collaboration with FEDOM, which wishes to be able to better support the Collectivité. He also informed him of President Daniel Gibbs’ decision to launch a major project to adapt or relax European rules and standards in St. Martin, hoping that FEDOM would provide help in this matter.
