Father Simon Wilson officiates first weekend masses in Statia

ST. EUSTATIUS--Father Simon Wilson officiated his first masses at the Roman Catholic Church of St. Eustatius. He was visiting the island Saturday and Sunday as part of an orientation visit.

During Mass, Wilson highlighted that some improvements needed at the church. He said on Saba there are three Roman Catholic churches. He said the churches in Saba are beautiful and encouraged Statia’s mainly female parishioners to bring out their children and then their husbands to church.

Father Wilson has been appointed to the Roman Catholic church of Statia for one year. He expects to officially arrive in Statia on Friday, September 7.
