PHILIPSBURG--A man reportedly shot his son in the arm on Friday evening in Philipsburg after a heated argument. The son who was shot had already gone to the St. Maarten Medical Center for treatment before police arrived at his home.
The young man told investigating officers that he was shot by his father during an argument. The scene of the shooting was immediately closed off for the Forensic Department to collect evidence and for the detectives to interview potential witnesses.
The father voluntarily turned himself in at the Phillipsburg Police Station and stated that his son had threatened him with a gun. He was arrested on the spot and taken into custody.
The gun used was also confiscated for further investigation. It is still unclear what exactly happened, according to police.
