Drunk pedestrian struck by vehicle

SUCKER GARDEN--An inebriated man C.Y. (45) who lost his balance and stumbled into the street while walking down Golden Barrel Cactus Drive (Becky Hill) in Sucker Garden was injured when he was struck by a passing vehicle carrying the licence plate P-7524 around 7:25pm on Monday, August 12.

  Police spokesperson Chief Inspector Ricardo Henson said in a press release that the man had fallen to the ground and suffered numerous scratches and bruises on his body and face, a laceration on his right hand and a broken right shoulder. He was treated on the scene by paramedics and then taken to St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC), where he was treated and admitted for observation and further treatment.

  Henson said, “The excessive use of alcohol also contributed to the cause of the accident.”
