Drugs in car doors

ROTTERDAM--The Dutch Customs Department at the Rotterdam harbour has discovered 51 kilograms of cocaine in old car doors in a shipment of scrap metal from Aruba.

The discovery was made last month following a tip that narcotics had been hidden in a shipment with scrap metal from Aruba. On February 16, two containers arrived at the Rotterdam harbour. They were destined for a company in North-Brabant.

The shipment contained several old car doors in which the packages with cocaine had been hidden. A combined team of the Customs, Maritime Police and the Fiscal Intelligence Investigative Service Fiod started an investigation.

The owner of the company which was to receive the container shipment has been heard. The containers were confiscated and the cocaine, with a street value of about 1 million euros was destroyed.
