AIRPORT--Long time Princess Juliana International Airport (PJIA) SXM Deputy Managing Director Larry Donker handed in his resignation to the Supervisory Board two weeks ago, which will go into effect on May 15.
Supervisory Board of Directors Chairman Gary Matser said that the board has met on the resignation already and there is a succession system in place for cases like these. “We are still meeting about this issue and there is no doubt in our mind that the resignation does not affect company operations,” stated Matser on Thursday.
The Daily Herald requested information about the appointment of new management at the company, but Matser said new management is being screened at the moment and more details will follow once they become available. He did not mention who will take over for Donker next month, but reiterated that there is a plan in place.
Donker has been in charge of the airport since the removal of former Managing Director Regina Labega. The deputy reached retirement age last year. However, the board requested him to continue until a new managing director was selected.
