Mighty Dow in action.
PHILIPSBURG--Dow’s Musical Foundation (DMF) announced this week that it is assisting Ebony SVG Pan Jammers Steel Orchestra and the National Commission for Crime Prevention in St. Vincent under the theme “Pan against Crime.”
The programme is built to engage young people and students of various schools in an afterschool activity – steel pan music. Ebony SVG Pan Jammerz is a newly formed steel orchestra to which DMF donated instruments.
DMF will work in collaboration with Ebony SVG Pan Jammerz and the National Commission for Crime Prevention. Isidore “Mighty Dow” York said DMF is spreading its wings and has taken on the music classes and lessons just as it does in St. Maarten.
“Nice to see that St Vincent accepted our way of having the music classes done and happy that they are working in collaboration with DMF. The programme will start off as early as next month, April 2018. DMF thanks King Ocean Shipping Company who gave special discounted price on having the instruments shipped to St. Vincent.
“Nichola Evans of the National Commission and the President of Ebony SVG Pan Jammers Natalie Bristol are the ones in charge of the programme to be carried out in St. Vincent.
“On behalf of Dow’s Musical Foundation, the National Commission for Crime Prevention and Ebony SVG Pan Jammerz, we say, ‘Thank you, King Ocean, for your support and contribution towards this very important and vital cause as we continue to build the awareness and continuity and preservation of the steel pan art form,’” said York.
