PHILIPSBURG--DigiWorkz hosted a successful summer camp last month with children ages 9-16 who participated in several workshops. The campers took part in Photoshop, Makey Makey, Laser Cutting, 3D printing, Arduinos and New Age Gaming workshops. The team of local instructors kept participants eager and excited throughout [the camp. In its second year, the camp aimed at equipping youngsters with the skills to invent and create tangible products.

A great deal of attention is placed on programming and system development as instructors allow participants to use modern-day technological tools to bring their imaginations to life. With the aim of bringing theory to the road, children were treated to two field trips sponsored by United Telecommunication Services (UTS) during which they visited UTS headquarters in Philipsburg and the UTS towers in Pointe Blanche.

"It was a success. We are very grateful to the parents that enrolled their kids. All of us at DigiWorkz would like to encourage all kids out there to invent and help better the world we live in," said camp coordinator Janushka Mukhi.

The Digi-Summertime Summer Camp is a project under the DigiWorkz programme of Foresee Foundation. Parents and children interested in the DigiWorkz programme can contact Foresee Foundation via its Facebook page or by calling 581-5050 for Foundation President Jose Sommers-Verschueren.

This is the second year DigiWorkz has hosted this programme for some 35 children.
