Detectives investigating Dutch Quarter shooting

DUTCH QUARTER--The Police Detective Department is investigating a shooting incident which took place in Dutch Quarter at approximately 3:00pm Sunday, August 4.

This case involves a male suspect identified as M.E.C. According to reports, several gunshots were fired at the suspect’s father’s home in the 911 Project in Dutch Quarter.

The shooting took place shortly after a heated discussion between the suspect and his father, after which the suspect fled the scene. The St. Maarten Police Force KPSM reported Tuesday that no one had been injured during the shooting.

The forensic investigators were on the scene to collect evidence. The reason for this shooting is still under investigation. The suspect has not yet been arrested. He has not been seen since the incident took place, the police stated.
